Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

IdJELE: Indonesian Journal of Education, Learning, and Evaluation accepts original research articles, literature reviews, and conceptual papers in the fields of education, learning, and educational evaluation. Authors are advised to carefully read and follow these guidelines to ensure a smooth submission and review process.

1. Submission Requirements

  • All manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration for publication elsewhere.

  • Manuscripts must be written in clear and concise English.

  • Authors must adhere to the journal’s scope and format requirements.

  • Submissions must be made through the journal’s online submission system. Email submissions are not accepted.

2. Article Types

  • Original Research Article – Empirical studies with clear research objectives, methodology, and findings.

  • Review Article – Comprehensive, critical, and up-to-date surveys of the literature in a specific area.

  • Conceptual Paper – Theoretical contributions or discussions on emerging issues in education.

3. Manuscript Structure

The manuscript should be prepared in the following order:

a. Title Page

  • Title: Concise, specific, and informative (maximum 16 words).

  • Author(s) full name(s) without academic title.

  • Affiliation: Department, Faculty, University, City, Country.

  • Corresponding author’s email address.

b. Abstract

  • 150–250 words.

  • Summarize background, purpose, methods, results, and conclusion.

  • Avoid references, abbreviations, or undefined acronyms.

c. Keywords

  • 4–6 keywords in alphabetical order, separated by commas.

d. Main Text (IMRaD format):

  1. Introduction – Background, problem statement, research gap, objectives.

  2. Literature Review (if applicable) – Relevant theories and previous research findings.

  3. Methodology – Research design, participants, instruments, data collection, and analysis procedures.

  4. Results – Present findings clearly, supported by tables and/or figures.

  5. Discussion – Interpret findings, compare with prior studies, and highlight implications.

  6. Conclusion – Summarize main findings, limitations, and recommendations for future research.

e. Acknowledgments (optional)

  • Recognize contributions from individuals or institutions that are not listed as authors.

f. References

  • Follow APA 7th edition style.

  • Minimum 80% of the references must be from reputable journals published in the last 10 years.

  • Use a reference management tool such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote.

4. Formatting Requirements

  • Manuscript length: 5,000–8,000 words (excluding references).

  • Paper size: A4, single column.

  • Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt.

  • Line spacing: 1.5.

  • Margins: 2.54 cm (1 inch) on all sides.

  • Tables and figures must be numbered consecutively and placed close to their first citation in the text.

  • Tables: Use horizontal lines only; avoid vertical lines.

  • Figures: Provide high-resolution images (minimum 300 dpi).

5. Ethical Considerations

  • All studies involving human participants must indicate approval by an appropriate ethics committee.

  • Authors must declare any conflicts of interest.

  • Plagiarism is strictly prohibited; manuscripts with similarity index above 20% will be rejected.

6. Peer Review Process

  • All submissions are subject to double–blind peer review by at least two reviewers.

  • The review process takes approximately 4–8 weeks.

7. Article Processing Charges (APC)

  • IdJELE currently does not charge APCs.

    1. Original Research Articles
    Original Research Articles present the results of empirical studies in the fields of education, learning, and educational evaluation. Submissions must clearly articulate the research objectives, methodology, results, and implications. Articles should be 5,000–8,000 words in length (excluding references), and must contain a minimum of 80% citations from peer–reviewed journals published within the last 10 years.

    • Peer Review: Double–blind peer reviewed.

    • Open Submissions: Yes.

    • Indexed: Yes.

    2. Review Articles
    Review Articles provide a comprehensive, critical, and up-to-date analysis of the literature in a specific area within the journal’s scope. Authors must demonstrate in-depth knowledge and offer new perspectives or frameworks. Articles should not exceed 8,000 words (excluding references) and must include a substantial number of recent, high-quality sources.

    • Peer Review: Double–blind peer reviewed.

    • Open Submissions: Yes.

    • Indexed: Yes.

    3. Conceptual Papers
    Conceptual Papers discuss theoretical approaches, models, or emerging issues in education and learning, supported by relevant literature. Manuscripts should offer significant contributions to academic discourse and potential implications for practice. The recommended length is 4,000–7,000 words (excluding references).

    • Peer Review: Double–blind peer reviewed.

    • Open Submissions: Yes.

    • Indexed: Yes.
