Publication Ethics

Publication ethics adapted by PROGRESIF: Jurnal Dakwah, Sosial, dan Komunikasi refers to The Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and Regulation of the Head of LIPI Number 5 of 2014 concerning the Code of Scientific Publications Ethics.

This publication ethics section is part of the journal's policies.

All parties (publisher [CV Omah Kreator Ponorogo], editor, reviewer, and author) associated with publications in Pogresif must adhere to 16 Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing. The principles, in essence, uphold three ethical values in publication, namely (i) Neutrality, which is free from conflict interest in publication management; (ii) Justice, which is to grant authorship rights to those who are entitled as authors; and (iii) Honesty, which is free from duplication, fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism in publications.

Publisher’s Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Taking its duties of guardianship over all stages of publishing extremely seriously and recognizing the ethical and other responsibilities,
  2. Striving to improve the quality of publications in a sustainable manner,
  3. Committing to the journal policies and ensuring that advertising, marketing, reprint or other commercial revenue has no impact or influence on editorial decisions,
  4. Encouraging the editorial board members as well as the author(s) to adhere to the journal’s publication ethics and providing the training/education if necessary,
  5. Supporting initiatives to educate researchers about publication ethics and reduce research and publication errors, including plagiarism, citation manipulation, and data falsification/fabrication, among others,
  6. Being open for journal assessment by any respected bodies in scholarly publishing,
  7. Being open to the opinions of authors, readers, peer reviewers, and members of the editorial board to improve the quality of publications,

Editor's Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Implementing certain processes to ensure the quality of published papers based on the journal’s policies,
  2. Maintaining academic integrity, confidentiality, and freedom of the author(s),
  3. Encouraging the author(s) to conduct the research ethically and objectively, and declare the conflict of interest within the written works, if any,
  4. Encouraging author(s) to improve the works to fit for publication along the editorial process by employing peer review step(s),
  5. Responsible for the style and format of the written works, while the content and all substantial statements inside the published articles are the responsibility of the author,
  6. Receiving queries, complaints, and appeals, and proceeding corrections, clarifications, withdrawals, and retractions (of published articles), as well as announcing the memo of apologies if needed,
  7. Having an open mind to new opinions or views of others that may conflict with personal opinions.

Reviewer's Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Accepting the assignment from the editor to review the paper and submitting the review to the editor timely to determine its quality for publication,
  2. Being aware of the potential conflict of interest or objectivity. Only reviewing the paper that falls within his or her expertise and with no potential conflict of interest, either directly or indirectly,
  3. Being aware of the research ethical oversight, especially for studies involving the participation of human subjects along with minors (e.g., consent, participant anonymity, etc.),
  4. Encouraging the author(s) to improve the works to fit for publication by providing criticism, suggestions, input, and recommendations,
  5. Treating the paper under review confidential, neither disseminating nor making use of the material other than for the sake of reviewing process.

Author's Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Declaring that the submitted work is original, has never been published anywhere in any language, and is not in the process of being submitted to another publisher,
  2. Ensuring that those included in the author list meet the criteria of substantial contributions,
  3. Acknowledging the origin of sources by citing/referring them properly and fairly,
  4. Properly taking consideration the ethical oversight, including but not limited to, research on vulnerable populations, animals and human subjects, handling confidential data and ethical business/marketing practices. Kindly consult the ethical clearance guided by The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) based on International Ethical Guidelines for Biomedical Research Involving Human Subjects (CIOMS, 2002). The author(s) should declare the clearance of (potential) ethical oversight during the submission of the work, if any,
  5. Declaring the (potential) conflict of interest, including personal and financial, during the submission of the work, if any,
  6. Responding to editorial discussions and/or decisions made by editors/reviewers in a professional and timely manner,
  7. Collectively responsible for the submitted work, during the editorial process and after the publication.
